Charity rugby match in Sale

SALE FC will be hosting a charity rugby match on Wednesday, March 20 at Heywood Road between the Wooden Spoon Anti-Assassins and the Royal Navy. Kick-off is at 7.30 pm. and admission is £3.

This annual fixture serves as a warm up game for the Royal Navy before they start the Inter Services tournament matches against the Army and the Royal Air Force in April.

The Wooden Spoon Society was founded in 1983 and is now described as the children’s charity of rugby, and in the past 30 years more than 600,000 young people have benefited from £20m of charitable support from their staff and volunteers.

The Anti-Assassins are a north west based ‘invitation only’ side founded over 60 years ago and have played many Northern Clubs in the intervening period, as well as travelling overseas on many occasions. They play a variety of fixtures either to celebrate special club events, or to raise monies for established charities, as well as helping to develop rugby football at leading schools.
