Sale Ladies Hockey

SALE Ladies played Andover in Hampshire in the quarter finals of the English Hockey Vase.

The play was end to end for the first 15mins then Andover showed their clinical finishing and opened the scoring . This was quickly followed by a well worked overload by them to make it 2-0 .

Sale started to play their own game and had a few chances on goal but failed to convert.

Andover took advantage of Sale’s attack and scored another clinical goal. After half time Sale settled into their game and after some great link up /passing play walked the ball into the goal (Sarah Rowley).

Sale had a few more chances but Andover's defence read the ball very well. Andover managed to convert a penalty corner just before full time to give the final score 4-1 loss for Sale.

Sale 2nds started well in their game against crewe on Saturday.

The whole team was working well, with captain Dannie Boothman opening the scoring and Megan Walmsley getting the second. The opposition fought back hard to gain a well worked goal leaving it 2-1 at half time. Sale’s third goal came from closing up the mid field with defender Louise Rowley firing in a shot on goal which Christina McVitie ensured went in.

With10 minutes to go Crewe got a second and upped the pressure, trying to push forward but sale defence stayed strong and held on to the 3-2 win.

The youngsters played well, with Olivia Kelly stopping anyone from getting past her and keeper Anisha Chopra getting man of the match.
