Altrincham and District Amateur Saturday Football League.

FLIXTON Juniors defied the odds at the weekend to overcome AFC Quarry 4-3 in their League Cup semi-final clash.

Juniors came close to surrendering a 4-0 half-time lead but managed to hold on for a memorable victory against the Division One table toppers.

They will now face Sale Town, 2-0 winners against Deans Youth, in the final at Altrincham FC. A date for the ADAFL’s showpiece event has yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile in Division One, Sale United beat Sale Amateurs 2-1 to move within six points of their opponents with two games in hand. Wilmslow Sports thrashed Kartel Sports 5-0 to remain a further point back and Swinton FC came out 1-0 winners against Egerton FC to end a run of three league games without a win.

In Division Two, Moorlands Sports closed the gap on league leaders Deans Youth to four points thanks to a 1-2 victory at Broadheath Central JFC. Northenden Victoria and Styal FC were leapfrogged in the table by Cheadle Hulme and Wendover AFC after losing to them 6-3 and 1-8 respectively.

Old Alts also moved above the two sides into fourth place on the back of an emphatic 1-5 win at Grappenhall Sports.

In the two other games played in the second tier, Sale Town Reserves recorded a 2-1 success against West Didsbury & Chorlton and APFC drew 1-1 with Unicorn Athletic.
