AFC Quarry remain four points clear at the top of Division One after they overcame bottom side Egerton FC 1-0 and second-placed Broadheath Central FC beat Sale United 2-0.
James Pearce bagged a late winner for the league leaders to condemn a spirited Egerton outfit to a fourth consecutive league defeat.
Elsewhere in the top flight, third-placed Sale Town drew 2-2 with Sale Amateurs to leave themselves eleven points off the pace, Swinton FC’s match against Flixton Juniors produced the same scoreline and Knutsford FC came out 3-4 winners at Wilmslow Sports to move above their opponents into seventh spot.
In the one other game played in Division One, Kartel Sports prevailed 4-5 away at Atlantic FC despite falling behind on three separate occasions. New signings Scott Doherty and Jonathan O’Neil scored the decisive goals for Kartel to overturn a 4-3 deficit.
Meanwhile in Division Two, there was only one match played as Moorlands Sports hammered Sale Town Reserves 5-1 to climb up to second place in the table.
In the opening round of the Broadheath Central Cup, Northenden Victoria were the highest placed side to suffer elimination after losing 2-3 against Wendover AFC.
