Altrincham and District Amateur Saturday Football League

AFC Quarry remain four points clear at the top of Division One after they overcame bottom side Egerton FC 1-0 and second-placed Broadheath Central FC beat Sale United 2-0.

James Pearce bagged a late winner for the league leaders to condemn a spirited Egerton outfit to a fourth consecutive league defeat.

Elsewhere in the top flight, third-placed Sale Town drew 2-2 with Sale Amateurs to leave themselves eleven points off the pace, Swinton FC’s match against Flixton Juniors produced the same scoreline and Knutsford FC came out 3-4 winners at Wilmslow Sports to move above their opponents into seventh spot.

In the one other game played in Division One, Kartel Sports prevailed 4-5 away at Atlantic FC despite falling behind on three separate occasions. New signings Scott Doherty and Jonathan O’Neil scored the decisive goals for Kartel to overturn a 4-3 deficit.

Meanwhile in Division Two, there was only one match played as Moorlands Sports hammered Sale Town Reserves 5-1 to climb up to second place in the table.

In the opening round of the Broadheath Central Cup, Northenden Victoria were the highest placed side to suffer elimination after losing 2-3 against Wendover AFC. Deans Youth and Styal FC booked their places in the quarter-finals thanks to victories against Broadheath Central JFC (1-2) and Unicorn Athletic (2-0) respectively. APFC and West Didsbury & Chorlton also made it through to the last eight by beating Cheadle Hulme (2-3) and Grappenhall Sports (0-2) correspondingly.

Broadheath Central Cup quarter-final draw (ties to be played on 23/03/2013): Old Alts vs Wendover AFC, Deans Youth vs APFC, Moorlands Sports vs West Didsbury & Chorlton and Sale Town Reserves vs Styal FC.
