URMSTON Women's Hockey Club are on the verge of a historic treble after their 1st team secured their league title with a 7-0 win against Manchester Manto on Sunday.

Having already won the Greater Manchester Women's Hockey Association Divisional Cup, they are targeting treble glory when they play Disbury Northern on March 23 in the final of the GMWHA All Divisional Cup.

They will play in the North Women's hockey league for the first time in their history and captain Nicola Jeffries said: “This is our best season ever and I'm so proud of the team.”

Urmston's Women's second team are also enjoying a good season, winning promotion this weekend after a hard-earned 5-2 victory over close rivals Didsbury Northern.

Goalkeeper Sophie Newman swept the board with both her team and the opposition voting her as woman of the match.
