SALE Men’s Hockey Club first team returned to action with a 4-1 derby win over Bowdon.

Two early strikes from Lyndon Hessing and Paul Golds put Sale in charge in a scrappy first half.

When Sale were reduced to 10 men they showed their spirit with a third goal from Ben Smith then Golds doubled his tally.

After that Sale defended superbly only allowing a late consolation from Bowdon.

Sale seconds suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to lowly Winnington Park.

A bizarre opener for Park was soon levelled by Adam Brady who later received a yellow card but Sale conceded a late goal as the visitors took advantage of a defensive error.

Ben Wells was adjudged as Sale’s MoM as Sale thirds were unstoppable in their local derby with Timperley cruising to a resounding 7-1 victory.

After an end-to-end opening Sale took the lead through Ricky Needham who went on to score a hat-trick.

Making up the magnificent seven for Sale were Rob Asher (two), Dave Sterlini and Jack Buchanan.

Sale ladies first team resumed action in an entertaining 4-4 draw at Northop Hall.

After the hosts had raced into a 2-0 lead Sarah Roberts reduced the arrears before the break.

Northop made it 3-1 but Sale hit back well with Roberts netting her second and Jane Fylan and Megan Smith struck to give them the lead before Northop grabbed a late equaliser.
