Three good wins for Sale’s men

SALE Men’s Hockey Club posted three good wins as they resumed action after the festive break.

The first team had a comfortable 3-0 derby win over Brooklands.

Neil Blackburn opened the Sale account and he added another before the break to cap his team’s patient approach.

Blackburn completed his hat-trick in the second half for a win which moves Sale into third place in the table.

Sale seconds had a pleasing 4-0 win at Chester against bogey opponents which saw a flukey effort from Adam Brady put Sale on the victory trail and a tap-in from Ian Ellis doubled the lead before the break.

Ellis added a second and another scruffy effort from Simon Baker, both with assists from MoM Jon O’Hara, completed the scoring.

Sale thirds kept up the winning ways but had to work hard for a 4-2 win over Knutsford.

Rob Asher struck first for Sale and added another before Knutsford reduced the arrears before the break.

Jack Buchanan restored Sale’s two-goal advantage only for Knutsford to hit back and look likely to grab a point before George Cahill sealed the win with the final goal.

Sale fourths were unable to complete a clean sweep as they went down 10-0 to a strong Bramhall team with Ben Brown outstanding in the Sale goal.

Sale ladies first team shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw with South Cheshire.

Sale dominated the early stages only to be hit by two penalty corner strikes before they got their reward with a fine goal from Caroline Dunn.

A good team effort from Sale in the second half was rewarded with a late equaliser from Sarah Rowley.

Sale seconds won a goal fest against Runcorn by 7-5 thanks to doubles from Sue Laister and Dani Boothman plus singles from Caz Gray, Olivia Kelly and Christina Micvitie.
