AS we leave the old year behind Trafford MV Rugby hope that bad weather has cleared and left pitches playable once again following cancellations for frost and waterlogged grounds. The side has slipped to 6th position in North Lancs Div One and their opening fixture of 2013 is a tough one. An away trip to League Leaders St Edwards Old Boys on Merseyside.

MV will be looking for a strong performance in this opening game and then extend this into consistent on field efforts. Results have peaked and dipped in the early half of the season as injuries and lapses in concentration have seem winable games thrown away. Points are proving hard to gain and MV need to put in strong performances consistently.

Trafford MV's mini/junior Hawks teams will be back in their droves on Sunday 6th Jan as training and games for the young members of Trafford MV will be in full swing. MV caters for young rugby players (starting at 3 years old!) and are always on the lookout for young local talent as one of the premier rugby nurseries in the Manchester area. If you are interested in playing rugby at senior or youth level for your local grassroots Rugby Club please contact Wilf Dooley on 01942 884542 This year Trafford MV celebrates its 90th anniversary since its formation in 1923 as part of the sports and social side of the giant international engineering firm Metropolitan Vickers which was based in Trafford Park and at its peak employed 27,000 workers from across the globe.
