AK 1st Team entertained local rivals Wilmslow on Saturday in what turned out to be an exciting and close fought encounter..

Wilmslow had the better of the early exchanges and took the lead through a well worked backs move that saw their winger go over in the corner. AK though came back strongly into the game and a James Nettleton penalty left the half time score 5 – 3 to Wilmslow.

AK attacked from the kick off in the second half but an inception try from their own 22 metre line saw Wilmslow increase their lead to 12 – 3. Further pressure from AK led to James Nettleton kicking two penalties and then scoring a try from a well worked team move to give AK the lead 14 – 12. Wilmslow regained the lead with along range penalty but AK had the final say and the winning points, when a charged down kick led to Aaron Loftus scoring for AK with 5 minutes to go.

On Sunday AK Under 16s also beat Wilmslow 36 – 12. Tries were scored by Hugo Laing, Sam Nero, Aiden McGoff, Andrew Maher, Lucas Dowling-Kennedy and Adam Welton, who also kicked 3 conversions.
