Hockey - Sale Men's Hockey Dec 13 edition

First published in Sport

SALE Men’s Hockey Club first team moved up to third place in the table after a flattering 6-2 win over Northop Hall.

Dave Wynne opened the Sale account with a bungled penalty stroke and more pressure brought goals from Danny Pratt, Mark Holmes and Paul Golds for a 4-1 interval lead.

Northop always presented a danger in attack and soon reduced the arrears but at the other end Pratt and Golds both scored their second goals in a less than convincing display which brought Sale their fifth successive victory.

Sale seconds were in a close encounter with Alderley Edge and were made to regret missed chances in a goalless first half.

Edge struck first against the run of play but Scott Raftery hit back to get Sale on terms.

A soft second saw Edge home with a classy display from Charlie Jackson earning him the MoM award.

Sale thirds took on Alderley fifths and lost 3-1 for their first defeat of the season with Tim Roberts netting for Sale.

Sale ladies first team looking to build on a series of good results took on Golborne and a good team move saw Jane Fylan open their account but Golborne levelled before the break from a penalty corner.

In the second half good team play from Sale got its reward with the winner coming from a penalty corner turned in by Sarah Rowly.

Sale seconds posted a convincing 7-1 derby win over Brooklands after conceding an early goal.

Sue Laister hit back with a first-half hat-trick and a second half domination resulted in strikes from Dani Boothman, Megan Walmsley and Hannah Aldridge (two).
