THE William Wroe Golf Club Vets section continues to be one of the biggest and most active senior sections in the region, with 130 golfers regularly involved in their weekly competitions.
A packed house was present to see one of their unsung heroes get his rewards for unstinting service to the section for the past 16 years.
Ernie Frudd has held the office of treasurer for the Vets since 1996 apart from a break of two years when he was captain then past captain.
Ernie was presented with a gift by secretary David Medford in appreciation of his outstanding service after retiring at their recent AGM.
David said: “With such a busy and active section the role of treasurer can be quite demanding but Ernie has done a brilliant job which was much appreciated by our members.”
