Ice Hockey - Manchester Phoenix 7-1 Bracknell Bees

CZECH forward Michal Psurny netted a hat trick to lead Manchester Phoenix to a seven goal blitz of Bracknell on Sunday.

Phoenix, who were on a high after a stunning come-from-behind 7-5 win in Slough on Saturday, dominated the Bees from the puck drop and the visitors had no answer to the onslaught.

First period goals from Andy McKinney, Robert Schnabel and Psurny’s first of the night put Manchester in control at the first break.

Bracknell reduced the deficit to two goals with a neat finish from Rob Lamey early in the second period but Ciaran Long quickly restored the three goal cushion.

Psurny netted his second after stealing the puck behind Bracknell net and tucking it under an oblivious Tom Annetts in the visitor’s goal before Richard Bentham fired in Phoenix’s sixth.

But it was hat-trick hero Psurny who had the final say of the night with his treble goal to seal the rout in the 54th minute.

On Saturday, Phoenix netted four straight goals in the third period to take the points in Slough after they were trailing 5-3 at the second break.

Goals from Ben Wood, Psurny, Schnabel and McKinney in the final period ensured a four point weekend for the league leaders.
