St Ambrose wins Memorial Cup

ST Ambrose basketball team are celebrating the double after winning both the summer league and finals day knockout at Trafford Basketball club.

The winning match, a tough game against Flixton Flames, had all the spectators on the edge of their seats as they came from behind and slowly pulled ahead.

Graham Hershall, a former Manchester Giants player, presented the team with the Under 18s Shaun Van Straaton Memorial Trophy.

This trophy is presented at the summer and winter finals day in memory of Shaun, a member of the club, who lost his life in a fire in September 2011.

The younger junior players were presented with the Alex Hulme Memorial Trophy, by his younger brother Matt. Alex, also a member of the club, lost his life to Non Hodgkin Lymphoma in September last year.

Trafford Basketball Club are starting a new Winter League after the half term break. New players /teams are invited to come along on a Saturday morning.

Primary aged children are invited to join in the fun and learn some new skills at a come and try session, Saturday morning from 9am-10.30.

League games for secondary aged players on a Saturday start at 10.30am Training is on a Monday at 6.30-8pm.

Adults are welcome on a Monday 8.00-9pm.
