A NEW indoor food hall will take place on Urmston Market.

The McGoff group has acquired the site on Railway Road and is due to begin work on the new market hall, known as Market 41, in the new year, with the aim of being open and trading in late 2018.

The proposed development will feature a diverse blend of 10-12 food and drink operators positioned around an informal central seating area of around 160-180 covers and will be staffed by Urmston Beverage & Leisure Company Limited - a new division of the McGoff Group.

The group said: “All traders will be carefully selected to ensure customers benefit from the very best quality and choice at competitive price points.

“Underlining Urmston’s increasing desirability as a great place to live, there will be a strong offer for families that includes easy access for prams and pushchairs, baby changing facilities and feeding rooms, children’s food and drink options and a small play area.”

The intention of the food hall is to provide something different from the existing retail offer in Urmston and there will be a strong focus on independent and small manufacturers from across the region who work with locally sourced artisan quality food and drink.

Chris McGoff, Director at the McGoff Group, commented: “We’re really excited about the plans for Market 41. Urmston is undergoing a real food-led revival and we’re proud to be playing a part in this, and in the ongoing investment and further development of the town centre.

“We’ll be working closely with The Urmston Partnership, which is a not-for profit organisation made up of local businesses, residents, community groups and organisations, with the aim of promoting Urmston, Flixton and Davyhulme as a great place to live, work and play.

“We want Market 41 to be integral to this, to meet the needs of the local population, to contribute positively to the booming economy and to really enhance the town and increase its residential and commercial attractiveness. We’d like it to become the heart of the town, and a place to meet, eat or enjoy time with family and friends. Initial feedback has been really positive and we’re looking forward to getting started on site in the not too distant future.”
