COUNCILLORS Joanne Harding and Karina Carter are hosting a 'Picnic in the Park' on Saturday, June 17 from 2 to 4pm - in tribute to murdered MP Jo Cox.
The event will be on Golden Hill Park and people are asked to bring a picnic, and come along and join in with music and games for all ages to enjoy.
Cllr Harding said: “We are hosting this event as part of the Great Get Together weekend. These events are inspired by Jo Cox who was tragically killed on June 16 last year.
"Jo believed we have far more in common than that which divides us.
"Urmston is a fantastic community and this event plans to celebrate all that is good about our neighbourhood. I’m really looking forward to the all age Crazy Bowling competition kindly organised by the women of Golden Hill Bowling Club! I hope to end the event with everyone making a pledge that we will look out for each other as neighbours and a community”
