RESIDENTS turned out in force on Saturday for the relaunch of the Friends of Flixton Gardens.

One Trafford Partnership was on hand to assist 50 volunteers, aged from five to 75.

The volunteers had plenty of fun as they worked to clear leaves and dig up weeds.

Cllr Paul Lally, who made arrangements to help start the project, said; “This will be the first of many days, as we begin the restoration of the garden back to its former glory.”

He thanked everyone who attended but especially to four residents - Karan Beaumont, Linda Moore, Marian Sidebotham and Sue Tiplady - who just five weeks ago started a Facebook group that led to the relaunch.

The group is organising another gardening event and a Easter egg hunt on April 17. Organisers are asking for donations of Easter eggs. If anyone can donate an egg contact Karan Beaumont though the group's Facebook page.

A committee will be formed soon, so the group will be able to seek various funding grants. Details on the Friends of Flixton Gardens Facebook page.
