A CHRISTMAS party in Urmston will turn the clock back to the 1960s and give revellers the chance to sample the excitement of Beatlemania.

Music enthusiasts from the area are staging a Beatle Christmas Night Out in Urmston, which will raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Organised by Paul Wilde and Roy Matthews, two Beatle fans who are active on the local music scene, along with Josephine Bardsley, who is studying event management.

The night is being held at Urmston Men's Club, Higher Road, on Friday, December 23 and is headlined by the Threetles, a five piece from Oldham who perform the Beatles songbook.

The band has appeared at the world-famous Cavern Club, Liverpool, and been given a seal of approval by original Beatle drummer Pete Best.

The Threetles recently provided the music for ‘An Audience with Pete Best’, organised by Paul with Roy managing things backstage.

Paul said: “The group went down so well that they were approached to help us with our Beatles' night out and create a party to kickstart everyone’s Christmas!”

Local artists to perform include Tom Walker, Dave Gorman, Jordan Drinkwater, Roydan Styles and Ryan Jarvis and on stage braving a head shave for the charity will be Bill Outhwaite.

Paul said: “The club has provided the room and its facilities for free which is an amazing gesture. A big thanks to the committee for supporting what will be a ‘fab’ night to remember…and don’t forget to come in 60s fancy dress.”
