A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 42-year-old man was found stabbed to death in Urmston on Sunday.

Phillip Owen, originally from Caernarfon, North Wales, was found dead at a flat in Gloucester Road on the evening of October 30.

Detectives found that Phillip had been stabbed in the neck once, sparking a murder investigation.

On Tuesday, police arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

Detective Superintendent Jon Chadwick, head of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “Our thoughts are with Phillip’s family at this difficult time and specially trained officers are on hand to offer their support.”

He added: “The loss of a loved one is heart-breaking but for the victim’s family and friends to lose him like this must be unbearable and I would urge anyone with knowledge to get in touch with us.”

In a statement to police, Phillip’s family paid tribute to a ‘good brother and son’.

It read: “He always worked really hard at everything he did. He could make friends in a second and was a really likeable person who lived life to the full.”

Sunday’s incident occurred just a couple of hundred yards from where the body of 63-year-old Jia Li Huang was found two months ago.

A murder probe was launched after the father-of-three was found dead in a flat in Atkinson Street, adjacent to Gloucester Road.

A woman also suffered serious injuries. A 35-year-old man was charged with murder and attempted murder in relation to the incident.
