A 70-YEAR-OLD man had to be cut free from a car after crashing into a lamppost in Flixton at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to Carrington Road on Saturday September 3 around 7.25pm to reports of a car crash.

They found an elderly man trapped inside and firefighters used cutting gear to remove the roof and release him. He was handed into the care of the ambulance services and taken to hospital.

Fire crews were at the scene for one hour and 25 minutes.
