URMSTON’S Mossfield Allotments is reaching a momentous milestone this year and needs help shedding light on its 100-year history.
Members of the Flixton Road group are looking for more information on George Harrison Graham, who founded the Urmston and District Allotment Association in 1916.
This will be used to compile a history of the allotments to celebrate the centenary, which is coming up in August.
Diane Williams, from Mossfield Allotments, said: “We would also like to know if he has any family descendants still in the area. We know that he was born May 12 1875/6 and died in 1945. He had two brothers, John and James, and one sister Agnes and was married in 1902 to Annie Pringle born 1875 and died 1939.
“They had three daughters, Margaret Moffatt Graham born 1904, Elsie Larraine Graham born 1908 and Agnes Wallace Graham born 1911.
“Any local information would be really interesting or any old photos of the allotments.”
Anyone who can help with the project should contact Mossfield Allotments treasurer Barry Henshall on 0161 748 1440 or ardlui@btinternet.com.
