NEWLY opened Champs Sports Bar and Grill in Urmston played host to dignitaries and professionals at its VIP launch event last night.

Guests, including the Mayor, Cllr Judith Lloyd, were given the opportunity to view the £550,000 investment.

Attendees at the Flixton Road bar were also treated to a selection of dishes from the extensive American style menu, which includes favourites such as Champion Burgers and Ultimate Grills, whilst sampling some of the bars signature tipples.

Cllr Lloyd said: “It was an honour to be invited to the launch event for such a fantastic addition to the Urmston business and leisure industry. This investment not only represents a new venue for residents to enjoy but an important source of new jobs and training for local people.”

The VIP event marked the culmination of a highly successful launch week which saw Champs Urmston open to the public on June 3 following a 10 week refurbishment programme.

Matt Price, general manager at Champs Urmston, said: “We were very proud to welcome so many important figures from the community through the Champs doors and would like to thank them all for giving up their time to meet the team and experience the Champs offering first hand.

“This event was an opportunity for us to showcase the venue to a really broad audience and we were therefore delighted to receive such positive feedback across the board on everything from the bars design to our food and drinks offering.”

Andy Wilkinson, concept development manager for Punch, added: “I would like to thank the whole team at Champs Urmston for all of their hard work, not only in getting every detail right ahead of the launch but in delivering the very best service to our customers since the doors have opened.

“We would like to thank residents for their patience while work has been ongoing and look forward to welcoming lots of new faces into the bar now we are open for business.”
