A SPECIAL flower arrangement designed for the blind will feature as part of the anniversary flower festival at Greenfield Baptist and Congregational Church in Urmston.

The church plays host to 'Baptist Voice' the talking newspaper for blind and partially sighted Baptists throughout the UK. Ralph Birtwistle, who produces and co-ordinates Baptist Voice, challenged the organisers to produce an arrangement that was both stimulating and challenging to those with sight loss.

“Most flower arrangers get very upset when people start touching their masterpieces,” said Ralph.

“This one will be designed to be touchy-feely and smell nice as well."

The event, entitled Flower Festival – Journeying Forward Together, is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the joining together of the Baptist and Congregational Churches in Urmston.

Kate Green MP will launch the event at 2pm on Friday June 17. It will be open to the public until 6pm on the Friday, 11am-3.30pm on Saturday June 18 and will conclude with a closing service at 2.30pm on Sunday June 19 (starting at 12noon).
