PUPILS at Flixton Girls' School are doing their bit for conservation by supporting Chester Zoo's Adopt an Animal campaign.
Since September the school's Year 7 forms have been involved in an eco committee, where members of each form meet to review activities that they wish to be involved in, with a particular focus on improving the local environment and raising awareness of global issues.
It was decided that they wanted to raise funds to help Chester Zoo's work to tackle animal extinction, though its Adopt an Animal initiative.
Students arranged stalls with a variety of activities at the Christmas fair and raised £180 for this cause. The committee then took its plan to the whole year group and asked each house to vote for one of three animals.
Following a week of student voting Anne Frank house nominated a chimpanzee, Helen Keller house nominated an orangutan and Rosa Parks nominated a penguin.
The school will now complete the official adoption process with Chester Zoo.
