THE plans for a major development project due to take place in Carrington over the next decade were recently outlined to Stretford and Urmston MP Kate Green.

She met the developers HIMOR who are stationed at Carrington Business Park, just a stone’s throw away from the 1,660 acre Carrington Estate – which incorporates the former Shell processing plant, Carrington Business Park and neighbouring farmland.

The MP was shown all three stages of the project, including the building of 900 new homes in phase one the construction, and was given a guided tour around the site.

The development will also host up to 1 million square foot of employment space; a local centre for Carrington; and a new home for Carrington Rugby Club.

It is estimated that the project will create 1,000 direct and 1,035 indirect jobs in the area.

Ms Green said: “I was pleased to be given a tour around the Carrington site and hear about HIMOR’s exciting plans for the development.

“It’s encouraging that Future Carrington is collecting feedback from residents about what THEY want from the development and it’s exciting that it is planning to create a positive central community base for the people of Carrington."

Future Carrington is working in partnership with Trafford and Carrington councils, Carrington Parish Council and MUFC.
