TWO Trafford councillors and an MP have come together to focus their attention on the needs of elderly and disabled people in the Urmston area.

Urmston Cllrs Jo Harding, Shadow Executive Member for Adult Social Care, and Cath Hynes, Shadow Executive Member for Stronger Communities, will be a holding a Listening Event this Friday, February 12.

The two councillors will be joined by Stretford and Urmston MP Kate Green at the event, which will take place at Urmston Library from 10-11.30am.

Cllr Harding said: “Many residents are very concerned about the future of care for elderly and disabled people across Trafford.

“The Children Families and Wellbeing budget is facing huge cuts and it will impact on care.

“There seems to be more and more pressure placed on carers, with virtually no support in place for those with caring responsibilities.”

The event is open to those who want to share their views on these issues and share some personal experiences.

Cllr Hynes said: “We want to hear views from people across Trafford about how they receive care, we want to know if people are satisfied with the level of care they receive and have they been told their care will be changing?

“Working with Kate, we will continue to work for Trafford residents to ensure that their voices are heard.”
