LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, in Trafford Park, is hosting a specially-themed family weekend to celebrate the emergency services.

Special constables from Greater Manchester Police will host the community event.

Special constables will attend between 3pm and 5pm on August 16 and 17and discuss a typical day as a policeman, uniforms and the dangers of the job.

Special constable, Tracy Higginson, said: “We are looking forward to supporting the LEGO City family weekend, it gives us the opportunity to talk to the public about the role of the special constabulary and to raise awareness of the part we play in policing the local community.”

Neil Crittenden, general manager at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester, said: “This is our guest’s chance to learn more about the police force and meet their real life LEGO City heroes and celebrate the great work of the emergency services.”

Other LEGO City themed activities in the attraction over the weekend will include: • LEGO City Scavenger Hunt: Find the escaped LEGO robber and be in with a chance to win a family annual pass.

• Earthquake Challenge: Build the tallest tower out of LEGO bricks and stand back and see if it survives the earthquake. Build the tower that sur-vives the longest and earn a certificate.

• LEGO Fire Academy: Embark on adventure in the soft play area • LEGO Pop Badge: Receive your exclusive LEGO City pop badge!

Located in Barton Square at the Trafford Centre, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is  is open from 10am seven days a week.
