Massed choirs sing for The Queen’s Jubilee

URMSTON Choral Society (UCS) is taking part in a Last Night of the Proms-style concert to celebrate the Queens's Diamond Jubilee.

UCS will join with Salford Community Choir, Manchester Ladies’ Choir, and the Werneth Concert Band for the concert at the Royal Northern College of Music in Oxford Road, Manchester, on May 6, starting at 7.30pm.

Entitled ‘Music for a Royal Jubilee’, the concert will feature well-known Coronation choral pieces such as Parry’s ‘I Was Glad’ and Handel’s ‘Zadok the Priest’ as well as Proms music including ‘Jerusalem’.

The musical director for the event will be Allan Jones, conductor of Werneth Concert Band, with conductors Julie Parker (Urmston Choral), Paul Trimble (Salford Community Choir) and Delia Maunder (Manchester Ladies’ Choir).

Tickets cost £10 (concessions £8 and family tickets available) and can be obtained from the box office at the Royal Northern College of Music, Tel: 0161 907 5555 (box.office@rncm.ac.uk)

Police are appealing for the public's help to trace a missing Trafford man. George Henry Schofield, 73,
was last seen at about 5pm on Friday 20 April 2012 near to the Railway Tavern on Irlam Road, Flixton.
Police have made a number of inquiries to trace George, who is originally from the Crew, he has not got in contact with any of his friends  A photograph of George has been put in local pubs and the areas he is known to use and it is a few years old it still bear,s a likeness Police are appealing to anyone who recognises George or knows of his whereabouts to come forward and call police on 101.
