Leonard Cheshire Disability and Impact Housing Association provide accessible flats in Urmston

MOVING into a new home for the first time is proving a life changing experience for the clients from Eden Square’s new accessible flats in Urmston.

The charity , has completed six new state-of-the-art supported living homes for disabled people.

They include adjustable kitchens with modern fittings, strengthened ceilings for tracking hoists, wheelchair access, as well as fully accessible lift, adaptations in place for the very latest assistive technology and access to 24-hour care support.

The one and two bedroom apartments mean tenants like Clare can receive the care they need, have better access to local amenities but still stay independent.

Clare said: “It is a fantastic place to live and much better than where I was before.”

Andrew Hopkinson, Specialist Services Development Manager for Leonard Cheshire Disability, said: “These homes are enabling tenants like Clare to take control of their lives, giving them more choice, greater independence and better access to the local amenities Eden Square has to offer.

“Listening to the needs of disabled people is pivotal to the work we do, helping to meet the need for high quality, affordable supported living accommodation for disabled people Urmston.

Phase two of the development, 12 one and two bed properties, will be ready in late summer.
