THE A&E department at Trafford General is now open to minor injuries following yesterday’s fire in a service duct.

The GP walk-in centre next to A&E is also open and can provide urgent care to patients with minor illnesses, while the Minor Injuries Unit at Altrincham General Hospital remains unaffected.

The A&E department currently remains closed to major injuries and illnesses.

The ambulance service is diverting these patients to appropriate A&E departments elsewhere. Seriously ill patients should go to another A&E department.

Three patients from our Intensive Care Unit were transferred to other hospitals yesterday as a precaution. Our well-practised major incident plan was put into effect immediately.
