BIG-HEARTED Steve Scott has been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for his services to help disabled people.

And Steve, who is just 4 ft 6 ins tall, strongly believes his size has helped him to help others.

“Let’s face it,” said Steve, who lives in Timperley, “I have an impairment but when I talk to people about disabilities, they see my size is not a hindrance to me – or them.”

Public affairs officer Steve added: “One of the main problems in society is the misconception that being disabled is a barrier for those seeking employment and it is not – nor should it be.”

Apart from talking to prospective employers, father-of-two Steve, who is 50 and married to Sandra, liaises with a number of organisations.

They include Trafford Council, the Confederation of British Industry, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Federation of Small Businesses.

Steve’s wife, Sandra, a special needs teacher, said: “I am very proud of Steve. He has been helping disabled people for the past 20 years.”

Steve will be presented with his MBE by the Queen at Buckingham Palace in London later this year.
