A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of drug dealing after a number of children needed hospital treatment taking drugs.

Police have been investigating reports of children in Trafford and South Manchester being offered drugs or being admitted to hospital after taking drugs, between December 2016 and July 2017.

Some of the children were hospitalised but all have since made a full recovery.

They included a In December 2016, GMP received a report that a 14-year-old boy who was offered drugs in Timperley, in December 2016.

In January 2017, a 13-year-old girl was admitted to hospital in Wythenshawe after taking ecstasy in Withington.

Last month, a 15-year-old-boy and a 14-year-old-girl were admitted to hospital in Wythenshawe after taking benzodiazepine tablets in Wythenshawe.

On July 21, officers investigating the incidents executed two warrants in Northenden, recovering ecstasy, cannabis, cocaine and benzodiazepine as well as several phones and cash.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and has since been released under investigation pending further enquires.

PC Jamie Milligan, of GMP’s City of Manchester Team, said: “We are determined to eradicate the abuse of drugs within our community and will crack down on those who think it is acceptable to supply drugs, especially when it involves children.
