A TIMPERLEY grandfather with terminal cancer threw open the doors of his home for a huge house party – and it was a resounding success.

Tommy Stott, 67, and his family held “Tommy’s House Party” at their home in Heath Road last month, raising £3,500 for charities.

There was live music, including performances by Trafford’s much-loved band the Loose Change Buskers, who Tommy collects for, as well as a raffle and auction.

The top prize was a weekend stay at the Park Plaza or Hilton Hotel in Dublin and other items up for grabs included Manchester United and Manchester City memorabilia, signed books and vouchers from businesses in Trafford.

Funds from the event went to St Ann’s Hospice, Maggie’s Centres, Macmillan Cancer Support and The Christie.

The grandfather-of-five, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy, wanted to raise as much money as possible for cancer charities who have helped him since his cancer diagnosis.

He said: “There was a great turn-out, lots of people were calling and leaving during the day. Everybody had a really good time. I would like to thank everyone who attended and donated. This part of Greater Manchester is so generous. Wherever cancer is mentioned, people always try and donate; it is a cause close to everyone’s hearts and people have been so kind.”
