A TOTAL of 11 men are due in court this Friday in connection with an ongoing Greater Manchester Police inquiry into a so-called 'crash for cash' scam.
Eight of the men hail from Trafford, and are said to have links with a high profile conviction last year of a Bolton man, Mohammed Patel, who was jailed after pleading guilty to causing dozens of car smashes at an A34 roundabout in Cheadle Hulme. He was sentenced to four and a half years last autumn having pleaded guilty to 93 staged incidents for which he would charge around £500 a time.
Mohammed Iqbal, 60; Jehangir Iqbal, 29; Hassan Raza Iqbal, 23; and Kausar Iqbal Parveen, 49, all of Skerton Road, Old Trafford; Gurmukh Singh, 56, of Erlington Avenue, Old Trafford; Mohammed Nasir; Mohammed Nasir, 19, Mohammed Asif, 21; and Mohammed Yasser Asghar, 23, all of Barton Road, Stretford, join three other men at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning.
Police said all charges arise from the ongoing Operation Contact Investigation being conducted by GMP into bogus insurance claims following traffic collisions.
