HOTEL Football has once again supported Trafford residents to find jobs, training and volunteering opportunities by hosting the third annual Trafford Jobs Fair.

The fair, which was held earlier this month, is one in a number of events being organised in Trafford.

Around 200 residents and 40 businesses took part and more than 500 jobs were exhibited on September 4. These included apprenticeships, training and volunteering opportunities which are available for people of all ages to apply for.

Employers attending the event included Kelloggs, the Cartwright Group, Unilever, Trafford College, Cargills, Hilti, Chill Factor?, City Year UK, Premier Inn, Pennine Care NHS FT, Trafford Leisure, Amey along with the Army, Navy, Greater Manchester Police and Trafford Council themselves.

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville, one of the owners of Hotel Football, agreed to host the event free of charge to show his support for helping local people in to jobs.

He said: “We are happy to support Trafford Jobs Fair, it is important to us to help young people into work and offer them an opportunity to gain experience in the hotel industry. When we signed the Trafford Pledge it was important to us to fulfil the commitment we made and to look within the local community and give youth a chance.”

Gareth Wilkins, chairman of the Trafford Employment Enterprise and Skills group, said: “The Trafford Employment, Enterprise and Skills partnership are once again delighted to have facilitated the Trafford Jobs Fair.

"We are grateful for the support given to this initiative by so many of our partners and Trafford based businesses, all of whom share our ambition to provide employment, training, apprenticeship, volunteering or self-employment opportunities to local residents.”

Executive member for housing and strategic planning, Cllr David Hopps, said: “The council is committed to working with a variety of agencies, partners and businesses to do all we can to improve job prospects for local people. It’s great to see the response from candidates and employers and it is clear there are opportunities out there for job seekers, including a wealth of work experience and training.

"I look forward to the next event in Altrincham and hearing about more success stories.”
