A STRETFORD woman has described her pride about volunteering in Manchester since the Arena bombing.

Michelle Dunleavy is part of Feed Manchester, a group of volunteers who go out into the city centre and feed homeless people every Monday and Friday.

She said that last Friday's walk to feed the homeless was extremely emotional and said the recent attacks at the Manchester Arena and the heroics of two homeless men have highlighted the need to show respect for those who are homeless.

The two homeless men, Stephen Jones and Chris Parker, ran towards the scene of the attack and helped care for those injured by the blast.

The group of volunteers run entirely on donations, with a local takeaway providing 200 hot meals every Friday, one family donate samosas and some members of the group make sandwiches and other items, all at their own personal cost.

The charity has a range of people from different ethnic backgrounds from all over Greater Manchester, including Stretford and Urmston, and is always willing to accept new volunteers.

After the walk on Friday was completed, the members of the charity, including Victoria Weir from Urmston, then came across a Canadian graffiti artist, who had flown from Canada to share some of his artwork as a gesture of support to the City of Manchester.

Michelle said: "We were amazed that somebody would do something like this."

"You will see in the picture that we are showing the sign of the heart, different races and religions standing side by side as one."
