POLICE are urging residents to be vigilant after a man duped homeowners into paying him fake “window cleaner fees” and burgled their homes after he talked his way inside.
Officers from GMP Trafford North said they have received a number of reports of a fraudster working in Old Trafford and Firswood over the past two weeks.
The man has been going door to door claiming to be collecting on behalf of the area’s window cleaner.
After persuading residents to hand over cash, he stole items from inside their homes. The man has been described as white, 5 ft 10”, with black curly hair, a beard and wearing all dark clothing.
A spokesperson for GMP Trafford North said: “Any sightings of this male described collecting from door to door, please report it to us via our 101 number.
“Please remember, do not let anyone into your property unless you know who they are and always ask for I.D.”
