TWO hundred women from every section of society gathered at the Dar-ul Aman Mosque in Manchester to celebrate the Ahmadiyya Women’s North West Charity Peace Fair on Sunday, January 29.

Women enjoyed marvellous exhibitions from six different charities such as NSPCC, Make a Wish Foundation, Lancashire Hospice, Alder Hey Children’s Charity and Women’s Aid. A total of £1400 was raised.

A £2000 cheque was presented to Rebecca Bainton, the regional representative of Macmillan Cancer support.

The guest speakers included Stretford and Urmston MP Kate Green.

She said: “It’s a very happy event, it’s lovely to have so many children in the room.

“I know as a Member of Parliament that my own constituency has had support from the local ladies and the charity work they have done.”

“We’re very proud to have you as our friends, neighbours and sisters; it’s a great privilege to be with everyone today.”

Lucy Lemmings, from Make a Wish Foundation, said: “It’s been tremendous to see the organisation has chosen to support six charities; it’s been lovely to hear something from each of the representatives and to hear about the work of the community.

“I’ve really enjoyed donating to the different causes.”

There were a number of Trafford Councillors who echoed the communities’ universal motto of Love for All, Hatred for None.

The event was closed with a vote of thanks by the president, Samina Irfan, and guests were given a tour of the mosque.
