PUPILS arrived up at Firswood's Kings Road Primary School on Monday morning - only to be sent on a space mission to save humankind from an alien invasion.

Staff transformed the school into a distant solar system called Daor Sgnik, as part of an unusual learning experience.

As the children entered the premises, they were sent to two separate rocket ships to go on a special drama-based adventure.

They 'travelled' more than 200, 000 light years in order to bring peace and prosperity back to planet Earth.

During the week, in their new roles as NASA cadets, the children will visit 28 different planets and along the way they will meet many different alien life forms - played by the teachers.

It is the second year the Trafford school has been transformed under the leadership of head teacher Darren Morgan. He said: It's such a brilliant opportunity for the children to get involved in a mouth-watering experience that they will never forget.

"The enthusiasm and excitement on their faces throughout the week makes the whole experience so worthwhile."
