KATE Green, MP for Stretford and Urmston, is hosting her annual Christmas coffee morning on Friday, December 16, 10am to 11.30am, in Stretford Public Hall.

All are welcome to drop in to have a chat with Kate, and enjoy a mince pie.

In return for some festive treats at the coffee morning, Kate is kindly asking everyone to bring an item to donate to Stretford foodbank.

The foodbank is currently short of tinned cold meats, cartons of fruit juice, UHT Milk (1 litre, toilet rolls, tinned fruit, tinned rice pudding and tinned custard.

Ms Green said: “I’m pleased to be hosting my annual Christmas coffee morning and hope as many people as possible come to enjoy a cup of coffee and a cake.

“I’d be really grateful if everyone coming along could bring a tin to donate to the Stretford Foodbank. They do excellent work in our community and rely on donations to help people in crisis, so it would be great to show our support.

“For more information, or to let me know if you’d like to come along to the coffee morning, please call my office on 0161 749 9102 or e-mail kate.green.mp@parliament.uk.”

Paul Guest, manager at Stretford Foodbank said “‘I would like to say a huge thank you to Kate and her followers for the support over the years that the foodbank has been open. This year we have seen an increase in people attending the food bank from low income families, particularly because of benefit delays.

“On a more cheerful note, we have a massive community support group and once again we have been overwhelmed by their generosity. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank every individual who has contributed in any way this year and the volunteers would like to wish everyone a peaceful Christmas.”
