A MERRY band of elves paved the way for Father Christmas’ visit to Stretford Mall recently – and his little helpers had plenty of help welcoming the man in the red suit.

The centre turned into a winter wonderland as it played host to a whole range of fun and games, including Santa’s grotto, a Christmas parade and interactive theatre and storytelling.

The mall also welcomed new addition for the Christmas period, the Festive Farmers Market.

Stretford Mall centre manager, Gareth Wilkins, said he was delighted with the day of festive fun on November 26.

“Saturday was a fantastic day at Stretford Mall,” said Gareth. “Our parade was a real hit with shoppers and retailers, with even more members of the community taking part than ever before.

“The ‘Do it your Elf’ workshop proved massively popular with youngsters as they were able to get crafty and make their own baubles to take home. It was brilliant to see so many smiling, happy faces as children met Santa, marking the start of the festive season here at Stretford Mall.”

Children will be able to visit Santa from Thursday to Saturday between 10am and 4pm and 11am to 4pm on Sundays until December 18 when he will be in residence every day until Christmas Eve. Visits to the grotto are free but visits that include a gift cost £4.50 per child.

The Festive Market will be open Thursday to Sunday until Thursday December 15, when it will be open every day until Christmas Eve.
