OLD Trafford-based Audio branding specialist PHMG is closing in on its annual fundraising target after raising £28,000 for charity.

Staff have thrown themselves into a number of activities as part of a year-long campaign to hit its £30,000 goal.

Taking place under the banner of its charity, PHMG Foundation, recent activities have included a Gladiator-esque obstacle course, a tour of all 92 Football League grounds in 92 hours and the culmination of three separate 10-kilometre races.

PHMG’s reception was also transformed into a library after employees were asked to bring in books for Manchester's Wood Street Mission’s Book Club, an initiative to improve the reading skills of local children in poverty.

“Each year, we increase our annual fundraising target but this isn’t something that deters our staff members – if anything, it just spurs them on to do more activities in more unique ways,” said Chris Berisford, finance director at PHMG and PHMG foundation trustee.

“Given the determination of our employees, it makes us confident that we will hit our goal by the end of the year.”

As with previous campaigns, the company will match the amount raised if the target is reached.

Funds raised this year will go to the Christie, Children with Cancer UK, Dementia UK, MNDA, Alzheimer’s Society, JDRF, St Clare Hospice, Macmillan, St Leonard’s Hospice, Cystic Fibrosis, Myeloma UK, Derian House Children’s Hospice, Cyril Flint, Once Upon a Smile, Mind and Wood Street Mission.

PHMG has raised more than £100,000 for numerous charities since establishing its own charity division in 2013, with £50,000 being donated in 2015 alone.
