REVAMPED Stretford Public Hall continues to go from strength to strength – with 900 people flocking to its first ever exhibition at the weekend.

Stretford Arts Collective, SAC32, presented its debut open submission exhibition from November 11 to 13, showcasing the work of 40 local creatives at a temporary gallery space in the grade II listed, community-owned hall.

SAC32, a small group of artists based at the hall's shared studio space, curated the three day event.

An open call for exhibitors in August resulted in a large number of applicants, which were eventually whittled down to 40 by the SAC32 team.

Artists ranged in age from 18-80 and included hobbyists and professionals.

SAC32 chair and curator of the exhibition Lisa Heanley said: “We had a vision early in 2016 to put on a show that would inspire, engage and delight the local community. When we put out a call for local artists; we had no idea of the calibre of work we would see. The exhibition has exceeded all of our expectations.”

Friday evening's drinks reception included a speech from DJ Mr Scruff, and a visit from MP, Kate Green, with an impressive 900 people crossing the threshold over the weekend.

SAC32's second open exhibition is planned for summer 2017. To keep up-to-date with plans for the show, as well as learn about SAC32's not-for-profit community workshops, join the emailing list by visiting stretfordpublichall.org.uk.
