A FORMER Flixton Girls' School pupil's dream of glory in the X Factor is over, after she and her bandmates lost out in the 'sing off'.

Seventeen-year-old Yasmin Broom, from Stretford, was taking part in the X Factor live finals as a member of the girl group Four of Diamonds.

The group was in the 'sing off' again on Sunday night, after failing to get enough of the 2.5 million votes cast to go through to next week's show.

Despite putting on a strong performance of 'When You Believe' , they lost out in the sing off to solo singer Saara Aalto.

While their mentor, Louis Walsh, backed them, the other three judges - Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne - voted to send them home.

Last week they had got through in the sing off.

Yasmin took their elimination in good grace as the described their X Factor experience to presenter Dermot O'Leary: "It has been amazing. I am lost for words.

"It is a huge platform for us... we are so grateful."

On Saturday night the girls had earned praise from the judges with their rendition of 'Hold On'.

Nicole said: "Four of Diamonds, you really, truly shine.”

Sharon said: "You made me smile when you sang it, jut was really beautifully done."

She said to the recently formed foursome: "I can see you blending as a group."

Mentor Louis said he was 'really proud' of them.

And Yasmin told the judges: "This weekend, I feel we have really found our feet, and it was just great to hear such positive feedback from you guys."

Yasmin - who is also known by the surname Lauryn - attended Access to Music College in in Manchester and has sang at the Urmston Live festival.

The group was put together after the girls had initially auditioned as solo artists for the X Factor.

Yasmin and her bandmates came back into the competition late to replace axed finalists Brooks Way, after losing their place following the ‘judges’ house’ shows’.
