THE winner of Trafford Centre’s ‘Light it up’ competition, which will see a undiscovered singer perform in front of thousands of shoppers at the iconic Christmas switch-on, has been announced.

Mia Lawrie, 16, from Bramhall, Stockport, is set to perform alongside Fleur East, Reggie ‘n’ Bollie, and Collabro at intu Trafford Centre’s Christmas lights switch-on event this Thursday.

The student was crowned winner of a recent competition ‘Light it up’ run by the shopping centre to find a local singing star and win £1,000.

Mia impressed a host of judges, including TV’s Sherrie Hewson and is now to set to wow the crowds on October 27 with her rendition of Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas’.

Mia said: “I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. My favourite moments are singing with my Dad and his guitar – we do indie, pop even hip hop songs.

“I can’t believe I won the first ever singing competition I’ve entered – it’s amazing! I’m so nervous about Thursday, but excited too. It’s an incredible opportunity and luckily I’ve got lots of friends and family coming to cheer me on.”

X-Factor’s 2015 stars Reggie ‘n’ Bollie are also now confirmed to join fellow X-Factor star Fleur East at the switch-on event, alongside the world’s number one musical theatre group Collabro.

The Coca-Cola Gospel Choir will be performing from 3.30pm, with the main event, hosted by Key 103's Mike Toolan and Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh, kicks off at 6.30pm.
