LEADING Sofa and Carpet Specialist ScS has moved to new, larger premises at White City Retail Park - and two former football stars were on hand to meet shoppers as the new firm celebrated the £750,000 relocation.

Football legend Alex Stepney, who played for Manchester United when the club became the first English team to win the European Cup in 1968, and Manchester City hero Paul Dickov, were in-store signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans and shoppers. The first 100 people who arrived at the store each received a signed football.

The new ScS store covers 16,600 sq ft., up 2,500 sq ft. on the previous site, and the company says that allows it to offer even more customer choice.

The store also raised money on the day of the launch for The Christie, one of Europe’s leading cancer centres.

Alan Raybould, ScS Manchester store manager, said: “The store move has allowed us to create an even bigger and better ScS, making for a greater shopping experience for our customers.

“The launch event was a fantastic chance for shoppers and fans to meet some footballing greats and pick up a signed football.

"We also wanted to support and raise awareness of a great charity like The Christie which supports so many people from the area through difficult times.

"We would like to thank everyone who came down on the day and showed their support for the store."
