FIREFIGHTERS extinguished a blaze involving 20 tonnes of non-recyclable household waste, on Chester Road, Stretford, yesterday.
They were called out to the blaze shortly before 4pm and used an on-site digger to turn the waste over and three jets to put the fire out.
The crews from Stretford, Altrincham and Salford remained at the scene for some time to ensure the area was safe and the fire was out.
