A SCHOOLGIRL has 'bagged' the top prize in a competition run by the Tesco Metro in Stretford.

Store manager, Richard Grange, from the Tesco store at Stretford Mall, invited primary school pupils to let him know what they love about their neighbourhood and creative pupils set to work designing colourful posters showing their favourite things in Stretford.

With the help of his team, Richard selected Victoria Park Infant School pupil Astrid Rainford, aged seven, as the winner.

Richard said: “We received so many outstanding entries from all of the local children that took part in the competition, but it was Astrid’s design that really stood out for us.”

Astrid’s design shows a park with various friendly animals including a swan and a hedgehog. Astrid has won a £25 Tesco gift card for herself and a Junior Chefs Academy Workshop for her school.

Head teacher at Victoria Park Infant School, Debbie Vrlec, said; “Our whole school is very proud of Astrid and we are delighted that she has won this competition. Astrid’s design is very creative and detailed.

“We all are excited to have a visit from the Junior Chefs Academy. It will be a fantastic opportunity for students to learn in an exciting and fun way.”
