JD Sports will throw open the doors of its new store tomorrow, making it the second retailer to launch at Stretford Mall in the past week.

The sportswear giant’s new 5,280 sq ft store in Kingsway Mall will officially open on Friday July 8.

JD is the second retailer is hot on the tail of discount grocery giant Aldi, who arrived last Thursday, June 30.

“The arrival of JD rounds off a fantastic week for the centre,” said Gareth Wilkins, Stretford Mall centre manager.

“Last Thursday we welcomed a market leader in the grocery sector in Aldi and this week we’re welcoming one of the most recognisable names in fashion and sport on the high-street.”

Stretford Mall is fast leaving behind its empty units, as the mall continues to regenerate. With JD Sports and the 16,500 sq ft Aldi store opening, Stretford Mall now has more than 21,000 sq ft of retail space filled.

Gareth said that newest arrival caps a great first half of 2016 for the centre.

“We’re committed to ensuring that we have the best possible retail options for our shoppers and this year we’ve really been able to expand our retail offering. That can be seen with the additions of Aldi, Costa Coffee and JD to name just three.” said Gareth.

“By welcoming JD to the centre, visitors will soon have access to a whole host of exclusive fashion and limited edition designs from brands such as Nike and Adidas Originals.

"Everyone at Stretford Mall is looking forward to what the rest of 2016 will bring.”
