ANOTHER global superstar is Trafford-bound – so make sure you are clued up and don’t get stuck in the rush.

Around 25,000 fans are expected to descend on Lancashire County Cricket Club for Beyonce’s Formation show tomorrow, Tuesday July 5.

The concert follows on from Rihanna’s Anti tour at the venue last Wednesday, which ruffled more than a few feathers.

If you are a Queen Bey fan eagerly racing to the show or a commuter trying to avoid the scrum, here is what you need to know.

First things first, leave plenty of time for your journey.

Gates open at 5pm so rush-hour traffic will be more manic than usual.

Getting there

By tram

People looking to get to Emirates Old Trafford by Metrolink can do so by catching the Altrincham tram from the Deansgate-Castlefield stop and getting off at Old Trafford – a short walk from the venue.

Tickets should be purchased from on-stop ticket machines in advance of boarding or via the get me there app getmethere.co.uk.

Due to essential work on both the Eccles via MediaCityUK line and in St Peter’s Square there are currently no north to south cross city trams operating.

Please allow extra time for your journey and visit the Metrolink website for more information.

By bus

Special shuttle buses will run to Trafford Bar from 4pm onwards from Fairfield Street, next to Piccadilly Station.

An event bus ticket is available from the driver and costs just £3.

People will also be able to catch the Metrolink Eccles Line replacement buses, X1 and X3, from Fairfield Street.

People heading back towards the city after the gigs are advised to catch the shuttle buses to get back to Fairfield Street and the tram if they wish to get to Deansgate-Castlefield.

Parking

There will be no parking at Emirates Old Trafford but parking priced at £12 will be available nearby at Manchester United FC. For SatNav users please use the postcode M16 0RA. Spaces can be booked in advance by visiting: manunitedcarparking.co.uk/events . Tesco Extra Stretford will be ‘drop-off’ and ‘pick-up’ only. There is no parking available at the store for fans. ANPR will be in operation at this car park

Road Closures

The roads around the venue (Brian Statham Way, Great Stone Road, Warwick Road and part of Talbot Road at the front of the ground) will have closures in place during the concert. Brian Statham Way will be closed for the duration of the event, Talbot Road and Great Stone Road will be closed at the end of the event to ensure safe transit of spectators.

There will be a diversion signposted via White City Way to Chester Road to bypass the event zone. The closed roads will be opened again when it is deemed safe.

Stage times

The show gets underway at 7pm with sister act Youtube stars Chloe and Halle. Queen Bey is expected to be on stage at 8pm but don’t hold your breath. On other UK dates, she has been up to 45 minutes late on stage.

The end of the show will be 10.30pm and, after Rihanna’s concert overran by eight minutes last week, Beyonce’s people have been reminded to adhere to the strict end time.

As for the noise levels, it could well be a repeat of last week’s gig and people across Manchester could be getting a piece of Beyonce for free – that is if the wind is blowing the right way.
