SHOPPERS from across Trafford flocked to Stretford Mall last Friday to help celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The centre featured a whole host of activities, with the main attraction being three, free, tea parties giving shoppers a chance to join in the fun and frivolity, with all of the food provided by soon-to-open retailer Aldi.

All three sittings of 30 were full and Stretford Mall Centre Manager Gareth Wilkins said he was delighted with the royal celebrations.

“Friday was a great day here in the centre,” said Gareth. “The tea parties went down a treat and we had shoppers of all ages joining in the fun. We also had a pop-up exhibit showcasing local residents’ royal collections and items provided by visitors to the centre.”

For those with youngsters there was also a special crafting area where children could make their own birthday cards and messages for the Queen, giving parents a chance to sit back, relax and enjoy the day.

“I’m thrilled with how the royal festivities went,” added Gareth. “We wanted to put on a party that Her Majesty would be proud of and I’m sure she would approve.”
